Thanksgiving in Iowa

Sadly, we lost all of the pics from Thanksgiving dinner due to a memory card debacle.  You'll have to take my word for it - it was spectacular!   The whole family enjoyed too much food. Elliot showed his appreciation for Iowa with a never-ending stream of baby drool.

Iowa's (very) Little India

12 miles North of Des Moines is the town of Madrid (pronounced ma - drid, not muh-drid). Despite being home to only ~2,300 residents, 99% of whom are white, Madrid boasts the the largest Hindu temple in the state!  My Mom and Dad took a trip to check it out last weekend and had a great time chatting with Priest Krimanand Upreti, making a small offering to Ganish, and admiring the temple, which rises quite suddenly from the surrounding corn fields.   

My Dad looks extremely pleased strolling the temple grounds :)  I definitely have to make a trip next time I'm home, and I hope Mom and Dad are planning to attend the Diwali festivities coming up in November.

Getting Ready for 1 Year!

Congrats to Elizabeth

Hard to believe that my little sister has graduated college and is now in med school. Congrats on being the best student of the Silbermann bunch and staying the most level-headed through the whole process.  Now get back to work, you have 4-10 more years before you're useful to the world :)
