Google just released voice search for the iPhone. I have a feeling that it will change the way I use my phone. This is Google's second big launch in as many weeks. The audio quality of Google video chat blew me away. For the first time, I strongly prefer using video chat to placing a phone call.
In fact, it's 7AM and I just video chatted with an engineer in China from my couch...for free. Now, I'm instantly publishing the story from my touch screen cell phone. Oh, and Obama is the next president. The world is getting so awesome.

Divya's place in Palo Alto is just about 100 years old. It's charming and has tons of cute touches -- built-in cabinets, curved ceilings, a wall-mounted ironing board etc.
By far, the coolest and quirkiest convenience is the tiny toothbrush stand in the bathroom. Divya and I scratched our heads for awhile when we first moved in. Today's toothbrushes (like today's people) are a bit fatter than they used to be. Eventually, we managed to find some svelte toothbrushes at Costco that fit perfectly. TIny touches make all the difference.

... because whenever I see a small kid from a foreign country speaking in her native tongue, I can't help but assume that she's a genius.
Case in point:
On July 4, 2007, my Mom snapped a picture of Barack Obama at Beaverdale Park in Des Moines. The campaign was just getting ramped up and Barack addressed a small crowd of curious but enthusiastic supporters. Barack and Michelle took turns speaking and answering polite questions. The morning rally ended with an energetic rendition of 'Happy Birthday' for Sasha Obama. My Mom called me up that night and said, "I hope someday he can be our President ."
Last night, I watched Obama address a crowd of 125,000 in Grant Park as our President elect. Thousands wept with joy as Obama delivered a speech that was gracious and sobering and, above all, inspiring. Only time will tell whether Obama will make progress on the challenges facing our country and the world. But for me, he's already delivered on one of his campaign promises: he's given me hope that we can make our country better.

I love Apple computers. I'm obsessed. So the Apple computer... It challenges me. It basically says, "What are you going to write worthy of me?" I can feel this. I'm compelled. And often I'm like dude, today I'm out. I got nothing.
